Although at a first glance chemistry may not appear to be very important to psychology, but chemistry can sometimes be considered to be one of the most important aspects of psychology, especially when it comes to studying psychological disorders.

· Emotions.

As you probably already know, emotions and how we feel are controlled by chemicals and neurotransmitters in our brains. So if a psychologist is studying anger and what triggers this feeling, they will be able to determine which chemicals are released from a particular part of the brain to make is feel rage. In addition, the feeling of happiness that we sometimes experience is often linked to the release of serotonin in our brains.

· Use in medicines.

The human brain is pretty much bathing in chemicals as there are thought to be well over 100 different kinds of chemicals and neurotransmitters which travel around and tell your brain and body how to act. This is unsurprising seeing as how the human body itself is an organic organism.

If these chemicals are out of balance, they are often thought to be the cause of particular psychological disorders such as depression. This is why medicines can be used to treat these disorders as they will continue certain amounts of the chemical that is low in supply to increase it.

Any medicine that you take can have an effect on the balance of those chemicals, sometimes for better or for worse.

An imbalance of chemicals in the brain can lead to depression and a whole other load of mental disorders. Which means that the right balance of chemicals in a mediation that can be taken orally or injected could reverse the effects of either too much or too little chemical.

A better understanding of chemicals and their effects on the human body could help us to better understand mental conditions and how to cure them.

To form a direct correlation, you need to reduce psychology to a structural component and point the functional elements towards psychiatry. Psychology supports the analysis of the human physiology, as well as the multitude of chemical reactions that govern it, but it doesn't introduce chemical components until it reaches the medical level, which is where a psychiatrist would become necessary. The paradigm that used to govern the psychological process has shifted dramatically over the last several decades, and the result is that psychology is employed for therapeutic purposes, and psychiatry is more about managing medications and their usefulness in regard to different disorders. Psychiatrists do very little counseling, and a lot more script writing. Without chemistry, though, we don't have medicine. We also end up with a lack of information regarding our own biological processes, because chemistry is critical to making accurate medical diagnoses. We need the psychological guidelines to help us understand certain behavioral elements and possible causes, and we need modern medicine to manage them. The relationship between the two is clear, but there are several more levels involved in the practical application.
