I have been wondering the same question myself. In reference to the bible passage: John 12:24-25. I understand how Jesus had to die and be resurrected in order to save us and how we need to take up our cross and deny our fleshly desires to follow Him. But really and truly does a seed die in order to grow? I am still searching, I have found one thing on the internet that you may find interesting. It does not state scientifically whether a seed has to die to grow but may shed a little light on the subject of what people thought about seeds in Jesus' time on earth.
