I just did the experiment for science here is my  abstract
Does sugar or salt effect the rate at which tap water boils. I think the salt will make the water boil faster. The purpose is To find out if sugar or salt effects the time it takes to boil tap water. The materials are 3- ¼ cup of granulated sugar (generic brand), 3-¼ cup of iodized sea salt (generic brand), 9- 1 cup of tap water, keep temp. Consistent (my temp. Is 71 degrees Fahrenheit), 1- 48 oz. Stainless steel copper bottom 6 ¼ in. Wide, 3in high, and a 1- spoon (to stir with). My procedure is:
1. Put stove on HIGH wait for it to fully heat
2. Measure 1 cup of tap water
3. Put the 1 cup of water into stainless steal copper bottom sauce pan
4.put the sauce pan with the 1 cup of water in it on the heated burner while starting the stopwatch, simultaneously
5. Wait for the first centimeter size bubble to rise to the top.
6. When they do stop the stopwatch an record the time
7. Rinse the pot with 1 cup of tap water
8.repeat steps 2-7 two more times
9.measure 1 cup of tap water add ¼ cup of salt to it
10.put the water/salt mixture into rinsed sauce pan
11.put sauce pan with the water/salt mixture in it on the heated burner while starting the stopwatch, simultaneously
12.repeat steps 5-7 one time
13.repeat steps 9-11 then 5-7 two times
14.repeat steps 9-11 then 5-7 three times but instead of ¼ cup of iodized sea salt use ¼ cup granulated sugar. ~My independent variables are I changed, if I  kept it plain tap  water and boiled it  or put salt or sugar in the tap water and boiled it. My dependent variables are The rate at which the salt water, plain tap water and sugar water boiled. My controls are I kept the temperature of the original water the same 71 degrees Fahrenheit, for the entire experiment I kept the stove on high , and I kept the amount of water, sugar and salt consistent. My results are The Salt increased the amount of time it took the water to boil as did the sugar, but not as much. My hypothesis was incorrect. My hypothesis was that salt would make the water boil faster. The average time it took the “salt water” to boil was 1 minuet and 47 seconds which was actually the longest average.
