Africa basically is a continent and not a country it does not have a capital. It is said to be the second-biggest and the second most-populated continent, after Asia.

It is believed that the continent of Africa covers nearly 6 per cent of the Earth's total surface region, and roughly 20.4% of the entire land area. Africa is bounded by the Mediterranean Sea towards the north, the Suez Canal and the Red Sea towards the north east, the Indian Ocean towards the south east and the Atlantic Ocean towards the west.

Africa is generally looked upon in the scientific community to be the source of humans and the Hominidae tree. Africa straddles the equator and covers quite a few different climatic regions, and is said to be the lone continent to extend from the northern temperate to southern temperate zones.
