What Liquids Do Plants Grow Best In?

Plants won't grow in any liquid, but will grow in good soil that is regularly maintained and fed.

By keeping soil moist but not wet, a plant will get the best chance to grow as it lives off the soil to develop and grow. Too much moisture/liquid/water will result in the plant being swamped and unable to grow.

Fertilisers and other growth products can be added to the water to provide a more nutritious feed but only if the soil is properly managed and maintained giving the soil the right balance for the plant to feed off.

Experiments have been tried throughout time to see if plants can survive feeding off other types of liquids, but invariably the results have been negative highlighting that water will always be the main ingredient to ensure the growth of a plant.

Regardless of the climate, every plant requires water to live. In desert climates, the need for water is far greater; the United Arab Emirates has some great examples.

Over the last 20 years, some great golf courses have been developed, all of them dependent on irrigation systems drawing in water to keep the grass up to the required standards. Without the water there would be no golf courses; not so long ago the idea of fully maintained golf courses in such areas would have been impossible.

Whatever type of plant that you are looking to grow, it will only survive and flourish if it is fed by a consistent combination of soil and water, one without the other will result in the plant dying off. By maintaining a good balance between soil and water, plus daylight, a plant will stand the best chance of growing to its full potential.

There are several liquids which are used for growing plants. The effect of liquid highly depends upon the nature of the seed. If you have planted seed, then you have variety of options. Most of the people use water, milk, vinegar, club soda and orange juice to grow the seeds. The combinations of these liquids are also used to cater to the need of particular kinds of plants. You can test different combinations to see which combination of liquid suits your plant needs.

Actually I am doing a project on it now and yes they can live with different liquids besides water but it depends what liquids you are using so don't go for the sugary things cause plants make enough sugar with photosynthesis

Plants can live on other liquids besides water. However, not all liquids will show the best results. Soda will work. There is one thing though-you have to add a little of water also. If you don't it'll just cause molding.

It depends on what type of liquid you decide to use. For example milk would not help a plant grow it does have some of the nutrient a plant needs but the extra additives from the milk is too much for the plant to hold so the plant will eventually die. If you decide to fix the plant by using water again, you don't have such a great chance for the plant to grow again because the roots have all died out.

I'm doing a science fair experiment. The stuff I've found out so far is that mixing those things together you may seem like your helping it because it grows faster. But your really killing it, if you just use water it takes longer for the plant to reach it's full size, but it keeps your plant living longer.

I am doing a project I think that orange juice will affect its growth because orange juice is good for plants it has nutriention and maybe plant vitamins tho acid and soda will kill plants so becareful each seed is diffrent with liquids

A combination of powdered dinosaur excrement with milk has actually been proven to increase the growth of 75% of plants! Of course, the excrement has all been over ten thousand years old but if we could somehow figure out how to harness the power of dino crap, who knows what possibilities it would open up!

I I'm in the 8th grade and I was thinking of an science experiment that would suit me and I thought about " what if I try to find a way to make plants grow but not using water but by combinding diffrent liguids and see what happend to the plant '' I did this and my plant started to grow(onion). I just used milk, vinager, and pickel juice, weird but I did and combinded them and got a experiment well done.

Well..... Really all of those don't help you. My wise scientific sister once said: "to help the growing plants it's not of the water but of the POOP!"

I've had great success through the years by filling an old bath tub with pure dried cow manure. I run water over the top draining out of the tub and catching the water in buckets. You want to see a plant take off to the best of it's ability, have sharp colors, high yield--you would belive what this water can do. Might be a problem to find a rancher that will let you come in and get it though, because you don't want that store bought stuff. That manures been cooked and dried out and damaged somehow.  It's got to be the real thing and preferred from milk cows because of their diet that give the manure far more nutrients than beef cows. If you ever get to try it you will be amazed.

Miracle Grow, or fish emulsion mixed with water work wonders for plant growth and blooming, and of course, regular waterings.

Even though dino crap with milk is extremely effective, the substance is extremely rare and should not be used on an every day basis. As a substitute, use really, really old bird crap, for
dinosaurs and birds are distant relatives.
