Berkhamsted is located to the west of Hertfordshire; somewhere between the Hemel Hempstead and Tring towns. It falls under the borough of Dacorum. Today its population is said to be close to about 20000 people.Most of these citizens have jobs in cities of London. Berkhamsted also went through many speaking and name changes and it was only in the year 1937 that the present spelling was adopted.
Some of the others that were explored and used were Berkhamstead, Great Berkhamsted and Berkhampstead. Locally speaking however, the place is simply called 'Berko'. One of the most important things that Berkhamsted is known for is the National Film and Television Archive of the British Film Institute'. It is said to be the biggest –ever in the world.
